Bye Bye Year 2004
Best Of Cinema
Shwaas-Story-
At a time when Marathi film industry is dying it finds a "messiah" in "Shwaas". The first Marathi film to win a national award in 50 years, is making a valiant journey to the "Oscars" and has garnered a huge support movement for its bid for the ultimate recognition. Best of Luck!
Convergent Movies-
Read ‘Darna Mana Hai’,’Bollywood Calling’, ‘Joggers Park’, ‘Hollywood Bollywood’ etc.The Hindi Film Industry is experiencing a new heady surge of adrenaline. A new generation of Filmmakers, scriptwriters, actors, technicians and music directors are drastically amending the constitution of the Hindi Film and much of the time getting away with it. Of course they are still in a minority but they are increasingly visible and vociferous. Multiplex movies as they are referred to are here to stay…
Colour Reality-
"Mughal-E-Azam" has been in the limelight for being the first film in the world that has been digitally colored for a theatrical re-release 44 years after its original release. 365 designers and over 100 technicians laboured for over two and half years spending approx. 8 crores on the magnum opus. Having raked in 1 crore in the opening week itself in Mumbai and Delhi alone, "Mughal-E-Azam" may set off a new trend of digitally ‘colourising’ other classic Indian films.
Passion And The Gore-
The story of Christ’s crucifixion is perhaps the most iconic story of the ages. Mel Gibson’s, "The Passion Of Christ" became the most controversial film of the year for its depiction of extreme violence and the way it portrayed the Jews. Though controversial this movie went on to create history by entering the most successful movies list at Number 24 with a gross earning of $600 million!
IFFI-Festival-
Goa played first-time host to movie-buffs, filmmakers, celebrities and tourists. With 200 films from 35 countries, 2,000 delegate registrations, beach parties. Goa has managed to pull off the festival so far. By making it a permanent venue of the International Film Festival, Goa aims to be the Cannes of Asia. While the verdict is unanimous that Goa rocked as the venue of the 35th International Film Festival of India (IIFI), many believe that more than a few glitches need to be ironed out before the state plays host to the fest again next year.
